YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Alison Thompson has been to nearly every place on the globe where people are in need.
In an article in the February 2012 edition of “Guideposts”, she provides expert guidance for helping at whatever level you are able, from giving money to physically going there.
She writes that there are five (5) places in the world where help is needed the most right now. The first she discusses is Sri Lanka. Still suffering the effects of the tsunami, this poor coun-try will take years to fully recover. Then it’s Somalia, where the ongoing drought has affected more than 13 million people.
Next is Zimbabwe, where the HIV/AIDS rate is so high it has created an overwhelming crush of orphaned children. Haiti follows next on her list where the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere is still trying to recover from their earthquake.
And, finally, she addresses the needs in your own home town, where you can hug a baby, read to a child, knit a shawl, serve a meal, plant a tree, rake a yard, send a card, place a phone call, and make a difference.
Tomorrow learn the different ways you can help.
